Luminance Meter
STE India has the best solution to measure light with accuracy and precision. Lead in CFL and LED test instruments. Our main products are Spectroradiometer, Goniophotometer and Integrating sphere. Our Spectroradiometer has the feature for photobiological safety. For any query please visit www.ledtesting.co.in or write to steindiamkt@gmail.com
What is Luminance?
It is defined as the light intensity per unit area. The luminance shows what amount of luminous power will be noticed by an eye looking at the surface from a particular angle of view. Luminance is an indicator of the brightness of the light on the surface.
The formula to calculate Luminance = I/A
Where I am the intensity of light (candela) and A is area (m2)
SI units of cd/m2
CGS Units is stilb.
1 stilb= 104 cd/m2

Luminance is generally used to denote the emission or reflection from flat, diffuse surfaces.
Exposure to high Luminance can damage the retina due to local heating. Photochemical effects can also cause injury, mainly at short wavelengths.
So the measurement of Luminance is very important. STE has the best probes to measure Luminance. We offer a variety of optical probes for radiometric/ Photometric measurements. They differ in spectral range, the degree of cosine correction and a type of optic fibre.
Each complete set includes a measuring probe, a fibre optic cable, and adapter for a dedicated spectrometer. Includes calibration traceable to National Laboratories.
